In continuation of activities to mark his two years in office, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has signed three bills recently passed by the state House of Assembly into law. 

The bills signed are High Court Law 2024, Ekiti State Property Protection Law 2024 and Ekiti State Legislative House Law 2024. 

The High Court Law is to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the judicial system; the Ekiti State Property Protection Law will safely guide unlawful land acquisition, protect the rights of citizens and promote fair ownership, while the Ekiti State Legislative House Law seeks to ensure the integrity and independent of legislation from undue interference. 

Governor Oyebanji, after the signing, thanked the lawmakers and his cabinet members for their support of his administration in the last two years, saying without their cooperation, he would not have recorded all the laudable fits achieved across all sectors of the states. 

He said the signing of the bills into law signified another pivotal step towards ensuring effective governance, safeguarding the citizens’ rights, as well as promoting socioeconomic development. 

Earlier, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, expressed confidence that the bills would address critical issues in the society, with a call for collective responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that the law is effectively enforced so that the objectives could be realized.

In a related development, Governor Oyebanji has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling the social contract with the people of the state through the implementation of robust socioeconomic policies and programmes.

The governor stated this in Ado Ekiti, while giving accounts of his stewardship during his annual “State of the State Address” delivered at the State House of Assembly to mark his second anniversary in office.

He maintained that a productive economy in line with his vision of shared prosperity, ensuring food abundance, investment in critical areas in partnership with the private sector, attracting new investors, and improved security and health services will be the focus of the government in the remaining years. 

Mr Oyebanji equally enumerated achievements of his government so far to include Education transformation, health and human services improvement, youth development, agriculture and Rural Development, revitalisation and creation of  business initiatives, infrastructural growth and Industrialisation, among others. 

The governor, who appreciated his supporting teams for their support, said his agenda was driven by a passionate desire to bring prosperity to Ekiti people in the quickest time possible, saying all machinery will be set in motion to achieve the visions of the state’s founding fathers.

Speaking earlier, the speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye attributed the progress recorded in the state in the last two years to the deliberate efforts by both the executive and legislative arms of the government towards achieving collective success.
