The West African Examination Council, WAEC says the technical hitch that affected the online display of results for some candidates in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE,  in Ogun State Public Schools has been addressed.

The State Branch Controller of WAEC, Mr Abayomi Suberu who stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Abeokuta said contrary to the rumours, the Ogun State government was up to date in fulfilling all financial obligations attached to the conduct of the examination.

Mr Suberu emphasized that no candidate’s result was withheld on account of indebtedness, adding that only candidates suspected to have been involved in examination malpractice would have their results seized until after the necessary investigations must have been concluded over such allegations.

Speaking on the country’s overall results for this year, the WAEC Branch Controller affirmed a decline of about 6 per cent in the number of candidates with credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, when compared with last year’s record and urged the students to devote more time to studying.

He identified unwholesome activities among those promoting special centres to fuel examination malpractice as a major challenge requiring the collective action of all stakeholders, urging parents and guardians to continue to encourage their children to adopt legitimate means to improve their performances.
