Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has assured the state workforce that his administration will pay N70,000 minimum wage.

He gave the assurance  in Ibadan while addressing teachers on the occasion of the 2024 World Teachers Day.

The governor announced that negotiation on the minimum wage consequential adjustment would start in the coming week.

Governor Makinde equally announced the extension of the ₦25.000 wage award payment by three months, from October to December.

The governor, while acknowledging the importance of teachers in the nation’s building, assured the teachers that his government would be committed to their welfare.

He urged the teachers in the state to continue to support his administration for the uplift of the education sector.

In his address, the state chairman of NUT, Mr Raji Oladimeji, appealed to the governor to fast track the ongoing teachers recruitment processes, for their quick posting into the classrooms for effective service delivery.

Mr Oladimeji appreciated the governor for his concerned to the welfare of workers,appealing him to continue to prioritise the welfare of teachers.
