Pupils of Debby-Chris Private School, Ile-tuntun, Idi-Ishin, Ibadan, Oyo State, have visited the Broadcasting House, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan to seek additional knowledge outside their academic environment.
The pupils who were conducted round the facilities by some members of staff of the corporation were happy to embark on the excursion.
Some of the offices visited were the control room, library, live and recording studios, newsroom and other operational units.
The Pupils were exposed to how radio programmes and news productions are being produced before they are disseminated to the heterogeneous listeners at their respective locations.
While expressing excitement towards the visit to the Corporation that uplifts the people and unites the nation, some of the pupils described the excursion as an experience that would linger in their memories, having heard so much earlier about Radio Nigeria as a flagship of broadcasting in the country.
“I have learnt that we can record and do something live”, “I have learnt that there are different classification of books” and “I have learnt that it is not compulsory to record but you can also go live”.
The Director of the School, Dr Christy Aderinto who led them on the visit, advised the pupils to always be good ambassadors of the school and pursue their future careers with vigour, adding that, she valued Radio Nigeria for being truthful at all times in their reportage.
“Actually, when we were looking at where we were going to make an excursion for this year, we were thinking about radio stations. Later, we decided to come to Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in Ibadan here because it is a federal radio station and we believe it has been on for so many years and our pupils will gain a lot”
Debby-Chris Private School, Ile-tuntun Idi-Ishin Ibadan is a school where pupils are being brought up with good morals in both academics and character.
