The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle wants the people of Yewa to come together and champion the course for the overall development of the Area and Ogun State in general.
Oba Olugbenle made the plea when he led other traditional rulers to the installation ceremony of the Chairman, Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU, Ogun State Chapter, Chief Idowu Rotimi as the Bobakeye of Igan-Okotoland, as part of activities marking the twentieth Coronation Anniversary of the Adokun of Igan-Okotoland, Oba Mukaila Salako.
The traditional ruler who described Yewaland as the food basket of Ogun State, noted that the Area required motorable road networks for easy transportation of farm produce to Cities, to enhance food sufficiency across the State.
Oba Olugbenle advised the Bobakeye and other newly installed chiefs to be upright and work as a team to improve the socioeconomic status of the town.
In a remark, the Adokun of Igan-Okotoland, Oba Mukaila Salako while appreciating God for the gift of life and wisdom to be running the affairs of the town, lauded the people for their support since his ascension on the throne, and appealed for more cooperation to take the town to a greater height.
Oba Salako implored members of the traditional council of Igan-Okotoland not to rest on their oars in promoting peace and unity in the town and its environs.
Responding, the new Bobakeye of Igan-Okoto, Chief Idowu Rotimi thanked the traditional council of the town for the recognition to honour him with the Chieftancy title, stating that the gesture would encourage him to attract more development to Igan-Okoto.
The installation ceremony was graced by people from all walks of life, including Captains of Industry, members of staff of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM, Abeokuta, led by the Head of Administrative Unit, Mr Olaniyi Sowunmi, as well as members of various labour Unions and Associations.
Highlights of the ceremony included displays by cultural troupes and different masquerades.
