Eight members of dreaded cult groups have been arrested by men of Ogun state police command l during a special operation to checkmate violent activities of cultists in the state. 

A statement by the Police command spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta explained that the suspected cult members were arrested following bloody clashes between members of cult groups that have been terrorizing different parts of the state in recent time. 

He said the supremacy battle between members of Aye and Eiye cult groups have led to the death of four persons in the Abeokuta and Itori area of the state. 

Mr Oyeyemi stated that the disturbances prompted the state commissioner of police Mr Lanre Bankole to order a massive manhunt for members of the groups.

The Police Command spokesman said the operation led to the arrest of the suspects including Toheeb Erinoso, Olufunso Moyo, Sanya Ayinde and Ramon Oyetola.

Other arrested suspected cultists are Akinyemi Olamide, Monsuru Akindele, Adeoba Saheed and Babalola Rasaq. 

Exhibits recovered from the suspects are three locally made guns.

The Ogun state commissioner of police has ordered the continuation of the operation until the hoodlums terrorizing the state get flushed out. 

The police commissioner also advised parents to call their children and wards noting that those caught fomenting trouble will be dealt with.

Mistura Durosinlorun from Kwara state and Dominion Ntupe from Lagos state have emerged champions in the under 16 girls and boys category of the 5th Racket festival.

Miss Durosinlorun defeated Delight Temple from Akwa Ibom state by three straight sets of 11/7, 11/4 and 11/7 in the final of the competition played at the Squash court of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

Dominion Ntupe on the other hand edged Daniel Nze from Akwa Ibom state by three sets to one to emerge the champion in the male category.

Speaking with journalists, The President, National Squash Federation, Mr Boye Oyerinde represented by the Zonal coordinator, North Central, Mr Yusuf Durosinlorun said the federation would continue to organise regular competitions for the junior athletes to enable them to get exposed.

Also, a former Nigerian National Squash player, Mr Adekunle Adebiyi explained that the competition was to give Nigerian child a platform to participate in sport, to discover talented players, retain, mentor and support them to attain greater heights.

Ogun State government has taken the Mass Vaccination campaign to tertiary institutions in the state in a bid to achieve the forty percent target before the end of the year.

 Flaging off the covid 19 vaccination at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Ojere, Abeokuta Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago iwoye, the commissioner for health, Dr Tomi Coker described the students as important stakeholders in the success of the campaign.

Dr Coker who explained that the mass vaccination campaign became necessary to prevent the fourth wave of the pandemic, said the emergence of the virus had affected the general wellbeing of the world population.

Also, the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr Elijah Ogunsola, noted that the present administration was concerned about the wellbeing of students, especially as the pandemic had made a huge impact on their education.

Dr Ogunsola noted that the vaccine would be incorporated into the existing health system in tertiary institutions across the State to avoid uninterrupted teaching and learning during the exercise.

In a remark, representative of the World Health Organisation, WHO, Dr. Gloria Archibong maintained that the vaccination was one of the proven measures of individual protection from the virus and interrupting its spread.

In their separate remarks, the Presidents, Students Union Government of the institutions promised to collaborate with the present administration in its fight to curb the spread of the virus.

Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, says the state joined other states in the fray to collect the Value Added Tax gets a fair share from the money being generated from the system.

The governor stated this when hosting members of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN)  at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to governor Abiodun, the government decided to take advantage of the VAT controversy with the view to ensure Ogun gets a fair share from the VAT money.

He explained that despite the huge revenue being generated from VAT, the state’s share does not reflect what it generates, insisting the state action on the issue was to ensure fairness.

The governor lamented that the country is spending so much to subsidize petroleum products, thus wasting fund needed to provide basic amenities which would fast-track development.

While informing the ICAN leadership that his administration was strictly adhering to all the tenets of good governance,  Abiodun said the state generated the sum of N75bn in the  last nine months and was working towards surpassing this next year.

On the State’s Accountability Index (AI) position of the the ICAN, he observed that Ogun has moved from the 29th to 19th position, expressing his administration’s desire to see the state in the first three positions next year.

Speaking earlier, the ICAN president, Mrs. Comfort Olu Eyitayo, noted the exemplary leadership style of the governor, which she said has impacted positively in the health, education, youth development and other sectors of the economy of Ogun.

She said that the Institute has made its position known on topical issues such as Value Added Tax (VAT) and the Petroleum Industry Act, adding that the Institute would soon embark on another round of Accountability Index assessment across the country.

Mrs. Eyitayo said the visit was as part of the stakeholders engagement to reposition the Institute in order to make it stand out as a foremost accounting professional body in the country.

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a housewife, Mrs Memunat Salaudeen for planning with three others to kidnap her husband. 

A statement by the command spokesman, Mr. Oyeyemi Abimbola indicated that the three other suspects were apprehended during a stop and search operation along Papa/Itori road.

The spokesman explained that the suspects, Olayinka Lawal, Asungba Nura and Usman Oluwatoyin were with a cutlass and a new strong rope when accosted and gave differing accounts of their movement during interrogation.

They hinted that Mrs. Memunat Salaudeen has confessed to sponsoring the kidnap of her husband with eight thousand naira.

The Ogun State Police Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

The wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun has underscored the need for an increase in the number of nurses and midwives towards reducing maternal mortality, especially at the grassroots.

The wife of the Governor made the submission at a town hall meeting organized by Community Development Associations, Ogun Women on Maternal Health and Frontline Workers held in conference hotel Abeokuta, the State capital.

Mrs Abiodun stated that the State Government was committed to addressing the deficits in the Health Sector to add value to the lives of the people.

The wife of the governor called on all stakeholders to join hands to improve the state of the healthcare delivery system in the rural areas and also gave the assurance that the present administration would continue to address all issues affecting women and Children in the State.

The President, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, Mr Nnachi Michael appealed to the State government to give automatic employment to graduates of the State-owned College of Nursing and Midwifery to address the shortage of manpower in the sector.

He lamented the current statistics of 215 nurses working in 448 medical facilities in Ogun state.

The National President also advocated the reintroduction of the Midwives Service Scheme with attractive welfare packages to encourage more volunteers in professional midwifery.

Mr Michael who was represented by the Ogun State chairman of the association, Mrs Roseline Solarin maintained that Ogun State with about three Universities and five colleges of Nursing should leverage the advantage of employing an adequate number of nurses across the hospitals.

 The town hall meeting was attended by women groups, professional associations and other stakeholders in the health sector.

Fortune basketball from Ogun state has emerged champions of the maiden edition of the southwest female basketball competition.

The Abeokuta based team defeated Hoopsdream of Oyo state by 24 to 22 points in the final of the competition played at Alake sports centre, Ijeja Abeokuta.

The southwest female basketball competition with the theme “balling to impact” was organised by the women elite sports empowerment initiative to develop, nurture and expose the young female players to competitive games.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, Ondo State coach, Olajubutu Tosin said the regular staging of competitions across the states of the federation was needed to develop the game at the grassroots level.

Coach Tosin described the tournament as an eye-opener for some of his players and called for more support from other sports enthusiasts in the promotion and development of female basketball in the country.

Also, a female basketball Coach, Adebayo Iyabode explained that the competition was put together to further encourage and empower females through sports

Other coaches who spoke with Radio Nigeria expressed satisfaction with the impressive performance of the participating teams advised the government to support initiatives geared towards sports development especially for females.

Meanwhile, Book and Ball basketball from Osun State defeated the Pacers Basketball team from Ekiti state by 14 to 12 points to settle for the bronze medal.

The high point of the competition was the presentation of medals and trophies to the winner while Olympic gold medalist at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, Lateefat Tijani and her coach were honoured at the event for making Ogun state proud.

The competition attracted teams from Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Osun and Ogun States.

Ogun State Government is set to harmonise all operational guidelines necessary to ensure seamless takeoff by telecommunication operators and other potential investors in the sector.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Tunji Odunlami gave this assurance in Abeokuta, during a meeting with Telecommunication Service Providers. 

Mr. Odunlami explained that the move became imperative to remove the gridlock in the application processes for building permits for telecommunication infrastructure.

He said his ministry would collaborate with the State Internal Revenue Services and Bureau of Land and Survey to proffer seamless solutions to the present cumbersome procedures, advising the operators to avail the ministry of the route map of all existing optic fibres infrastructure in the state.

In a remark, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology, Mr. Dayo Abiodun urged the operators to discontinue project work whenever the ministry issued “stop-work orders”.

Ogun state Police command has arrested three men while exhuming the corpse of one Segun Taiwo who died and was buried about six months ago at Abule Sikiru area of Sabo Abeokuta. 

According to a statement by the Ogun Police command spokesman, Mr Oyeyemi Abimbola the suspects were arrested at about 11:30 p.m. following a distress call from a good Samaritan that he sighted some men digging the grave where a 28 years old man was buried.

He explained that the suspects were arrested at the scene of the crime with the help of members of the community. 

He hinted that investigation has revealed that, the suspects exhumed the corpse use for money-making ritual purposes.

The commissioner of police Mr Lanre Bankole has ordered the transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation for investigation and prosecution.

Ogun State Government has announced a plan to relaunch the joint internal security operational platform, popularly known as OP  MESA, to complement the efforts of other law enforcement agencies towards enhancing the security in the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known at the inaugural meeting with the twenty local government Chairmen in the state, held at Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun urged the chairmen to embrace hard work and maintain a cordial relationship with traditional institutions and security agencies in their various local government areas to promote a peaceful society.

The Governor noted that, though the allocation assigned to the local governments was insufficient to execute all projects, promised them the necessary support to carry out the tasks of developing rural areas across the state.

Earlier, the Commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Afolabi Afuape while appreciating the governor for providing an enabling environment for the local government chairmen to serve the people at the grassroots, appealed for more assistance to enable them to succeed.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has threatened to shut down Ogun state if government failed to rehabilitate the Sango Ota section of Lagos -Abeokuta Expressway within the next twenty-one days.

NLC Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Bankole stated this during the protest of some members of the union against the deplorable condition of the road.

The protesters blocked the Sango-Ota road in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state from Joju Bus-Stop to the Garage area of the area during the protest.

The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Repair our road with immediate effect or face the wrath of the masses; “400% hike in transport fare due to bad road”; “Our roads are death traps fix our roads”; “No good roads, No payment of tax”; “Our taxes are meant for fixing road so what happened”; and “Industries in Ota are relocating and closing down due to bad roads”.

Mr. Bankole explained that the union decided to protest to show its displeasure over the continued non-challant attitude of the government after the visit of the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola to the road.

He appealed to the federal and state governments to find a lasting solution to the deplorable state of the road to reduce tgw hardship being experienced by passers by and motorists

All is set for the commencement of the fourth edition of the revived Gateway Tertiary Institution Games, GATIG, in Ogun State after 12 years.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde made this known while speaking with journalists at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The Gateway Tertiary Institution Games, GATIG, is an avenue for students from various tertiary institutions in Ogun State to renew their friendships and rivalry in different sporting activities.

It is also designed to encourage the direction of youthful exuberance towards sports rather than engaging in cultism, prostitution, drug abuse and other social vices.

The game which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at the Alake Sports Centre will see students competing for honours in seventeen games across three different venues in the state capital.

Addressing journalists, the Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde said the event would be used to discover raw talents among the students of tertiary institutions in Ogun State and assist them in honing their skills for national and global prominence. 

Dr. Kehinde restated the present administration’s determination to return the state to its glorious sports heritage.

The chairman, Main Organizing Committee, MOC, Prince Adetunji Onatolu said the rejuvenated GATIG would assist the state in its efforts towards the discovery of talents that would represent the state at the next National Sports Festival.

Also, the Director of Sports, Ogun State, Mrs. Iyabode Rotimi said the opening ceremony of the four-day event would be held at Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta with volleyball while the OOPL and the MKO stadium are other venues for the competition.

Speaking on behalf of the participating tertiary institutions, the Director of Sports, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Mr. Adeyemi Kehinde who was represented by the Principal Sports Coach of the institution, Mr. Dauda Saheed commended the efforts of the state government to revive the games, assuring the organizers of good conduct of the athletes through the period of the games.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has urged Nigerians, especially the youths to concentrate their efforts on building a favourable nation for all citizens, irrespective of the tribal, religious and political affiliations.

Governor Abiodun made the plea at a Special Parade to mark the 61st National Day Celebration of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor encouraged the youths to be self assured, creatively involved and open-minded towards enhancing national development.

While calling on policy makers to provide the conducive environment for the people to harness their potential to move the country forward, Prince Abiodun said his administration would continue to formulate people-friendly policies and implement valuable programmes.

Also, a former military Administrator of the Ogun State, Retired Navy Commodore Kayode Olofinmoyin advised the state government to give priority to the education sector in the bid to safeguard the future for the younger generation.

In a remark, a representative of the Civil Society groups, Mr. Yinka Folarin called on the federal government to strengthen the security architecture across the country.

Highlights of the occasion were symbolic washing of hands and presentation of gifts after the special parade by the Armed forces, the Nigerian Police} , representatives of Labour and trade unions as well as schools pupils from different parts of the state.

Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA Committee on Works and Infrastructure wants the operations of the State Public Works Agency to be strengthened to fast track massive road rehabilitations across the state.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr Abayomi Fasuwa, stated this during an interactive session with the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Ade Adesanya, and the General Manager, State Public Works Agency, Mr. Gbenga Akintola at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Mr. Fasuwa urged the Ministry to improve on the supervision of all contractors handling the construction of road projects in all parts of the state to ensure delivery of quality work.

The Committee Chairman who decried the deplorable conditions of roads in the state, requested for palliatives on inner roads linking communities in towns across the state.

In their seperate remarks, Ogun State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Ade Adesanya and General Manager, OGPWA, Mr. Gbenga Akintola attributed the slow pace of road projects to paucity of funds, and gave an assurance that contractors would commence operations immediately the rains subsided.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ogun State has decried the low turnout of eligible voters in the voter registration in Ogun State compared to other state in the South West.

The new Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Ogun state, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje who made this known at a news briefing in Abeokuta, noted that Ogun State ranked last among the South West states by the population.

Mr. Agbaje called on all eligible voters in Ogun State to seize the opportunity provided by the Continuous Voters Registration, CVR, to register as voters to empower them exercise their franchise in the 2023 general elections.

He called on all other stakeholders to step up their ongoing efforts at sensitising the people on the importance of the exercise.

Mr. Agbaje however cautioned violators of the law guiding the exercise, especially those engaging in multiple registration warning that they would be identified and prosecuted accordingly.

Members of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria in Ogun State have staged a protest to the branch of a commercial bank at Ita Eko in Abeokuta alleging the bank of diversion of the union’s one hundred and thirty four million Naira investment.

The state chairman of the Association, Comrade Olude Owolabi who led the placards carrying unionists while speaking during a protest at the bank branch at Ita Eko in Abeokuta, said the association had instructed the bank to transfer its investments into another bank account.

Comrade Owolabi also explained that the bank however failed to remit the total sum into the new bank account.

However, the bank branch Manager, Mr. Saka Adeleke while reacting to the protest stated that the bank was not denying the association access to their funds and hinted that the issue was being investigated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

He maintained that the CBN investigation on the matter would determine the transfer of the remaining fund as requested by the association.

The proposed bill on the Ogun State Value Added Tax Law, 2021 has scaled first and second readings. 

Lawmakers while extensively deliberating on the bill, unanimously agreed that the bill, when operational, would accord the State its rightful position as a viable federating unit amongst the comity of States generating worthy financial returns in the country.

In their Contribition, Mr Olakunle Sobukanla, Mr. Ganiyu Oyedeji, and Mr. Adegoke Adeyanju stressed the need for the enactment of the proposed law in the State to further improve revenue accruable to the State, with a view to ensuring a seamless funding of more developmental projects.

Other lawmakers including Mr. Kemi Oduwole, Mr. Oludaisi Elemide, and Mrs. Atinuke Bello, noted that the bill was meant to improve on the State’s financial status through tax revenue generation.

In his response, the Speaker of the house, Mr. Oluomo emphasized that the leading position of the Ogun State among the comity of States in the area of revenue generation must be complemented with equal remittance of allocation on monthly basis from the Federation account.

Relevant stakeholders have been urged to play active roles in the success of the new academic session.

The coordinator, Child Protection Network, Mr. Akingbade Soleye made the plea in an interview with Paramount FM in Abeokuta.

Mr. Soleye emphasised that the overall development and success of every child depended on the collaborative effort of the parents, community and government.

He advised parents to ensure the provision of books and other learning materials for their children, to make teachers’ work easier.

The coordinator also tasked students on obedience and hard work to be able to excel in their academic pursuit.

The first term of the 2021/2022 Academic session, has commenced in public and private schools across Ogun state.

Radio Nigeria correspondents, who monitored the resumption in Abeokuta, Ota, Ilaro and Ijebu areas of the state, observed that despite the early morning rains, students and their parents trooped out to meet up with the resumption time.

During the visit to some schools, students were seen clearing and cleaning both the classrooms and premises that had been overtaken by thick dust and giant grasses, as the teachers monitored the exercise.

Speaking in separate interviews, some students in public schools appealed to the government to improve on the infrastructural development in the schools.

The students while pointing out that their schools lacked adequate furniture, toilet facilities among others, said the situation was hindering their learning.

On the preparedness for the new academic session, some students including Adeboye Sorungbe, Oluwaseyi Ogunwede and Oluwabukola Oyajimi expressed their determination to study hard in the new academic session.

While thanking God for a peaceful holiday and resumption to school, the students appreciated their parents for taking good care of them.

The acting Comptroller of Federal Operations Unit Zone A, Mr. Hussein Ejibunu has directed an investigation into the murder of a Customs officer over the weekend at Owode-Yewa area of Ogun State by suspected smugglers.

The Acting Controller while speaking on the incident reiterated his resolve to keep suppressing smuggling and arresting perpetrators of the criminal act.

Mr. Ejibunu said the killing will not deter customs under his leadership from carrying out it’s statutory functions in the interest of national security and economy.

He added that seizures of smuggled wares and arrest of suspects will continue until the perpetrators change to legitimate trades.

The acting comptroller explained that the officer was killed during an operation after two vehicles laden with smuggled foreign parboiled rice were seized and being taken to Lagos.

He noted that one of the vehicle developed mechanical problem and was being fixed by the officers when the suspected smugglers mobilised themselves in a large number with arms, charms, stones and other dangerous objects to murder the deceased officer.

He stated that the body of the deceased officer had been deposited in a mortuary while investigations had also commenced.

The remains of the father of the Ogun State Governor, Pa Emmanuel Abiodun have been laid to rest on the premises of Saint James Anglican Church, Iperu Remo, in Ikenne Local Government area of the state.

Delivering a sermon at the funeral Service, the Bishop of Remo Diocese, Anglican Communion the Most Reverend Olusina Fape called on religious and political leaders to always use their positions to put smiles on the faces of the populace.

Bishop Fape who described heaven as a prepared place said the only way to make heaven was to be of good behaviour and urged leaders to live impactful life that would make people to remember them after their sojourn on earth.

While noting that death is inevitable, the Bishop also urged Christians to be prepared and live in anticipation of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

The religious leader said that the deceased was a devout Christian who dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity during his lifetime.

In a remark, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also described the deceased as a great teacher who rendered selfless service to humanity and gave back to society through his teaching profession.

The eldest son of the deceased, Governor Dapo Abiodun, said his father was a loving father and caring husband who inculcated moral values in his children.

The Governors of Ekiti, Dr. Kayode fayemi, Lagos, Babajide Sanwoolu, Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu, as well as Former Governors of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Ibikunle Amosu were among the dignitaries present at the occasion.

Journalists have been charged to always verify information at their disposal before publishing to put an end to fake news and injuring the trust of the audience.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile gave the advice in Abeokuta while closing a two day workshop for Health Reporters organised by the International Press Center, IPC with Support from United State Consulate General Lagos.

Alhaji Odusile stressed the need for Journalists to always be factual in their reportage as the society relies so much on them for truth and Accurate information of events around them. 

He added that as members of the fourth estate of the realm, Reporters  must avoid reports that would set the nation on fire, create fear and panic in the mind of the listeners and readers.

The Information Commissioner gave an assurance that the State Government would continue to assist journalists to do their job with prompt and adequate release of Information about government activities and policies.

The Ogun State House of Assembly has convened the gathering of Stakeholders to deliberate on the establishment of Residents Registration Agency as well as a bill for Ogun State administration of Physical Planning, Urban Development, slum regeneration and building production management law 2021.

The bill for Resident Registration Agency, according to the Speaker of the House, Mr Olakunle Oluomo would go a long way in addressing the non availability of easy means of Identification of residents through the compilation of effective and reliable database for the residents.

He stressed that the House was determined to ensure that the bill receives necessary legislative backing as well as accelerated passage to ensure that the current administration adequately plan for its residents.

Mr Oluomo also expressed optimism that the bill for Ogun State administration of physical planning, urban development, slum regeneration and building production management law 2021 would aid physical planning as the State remained a developing entity, that needed to accommodate more developmental projects including investment opportunities. 

In Separate remarks, some participants, including the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Tunji Odunlami, Director of Community Development in the State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, Mr Mudasiru Oriola and a Town planner, Francis Oyekunle advocated commitment to the usage of data generated for developmental purposes. 

They submitted that Community Development Associations should be saddled with the responsibility of verifying and presenting community residents for registration.

Journalists in the South West have been called upon to conduct in depth investigation and analysis into health related issues in the society in an effort to draw relevant stakeholder’s attention to the sector.

The Executive Director, International Press Centre, Mr Lanre Arogundade gave the advice while speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun State at a media workshop on Investigative health care reporting organized with supports from the US Consulate General Lagos.

Mr Arogundade also stressed the need for Journalists to move from the era of quick news and event coverage reporting as these had made Journalists to be the mouth piece of such organisations especially government related issues and stories.

The IPC Executive Director also called on Media Organizations to provide an enabling environment for their reporters to operate in order to create more awareness and education campaigns on health related issues.

Also speaking, the acting US Consul General, Mr Stephen Ibelli said the United State decided to support the workshop to provide the needed checks and balances for journalists in an effort to fulfill their obligations as members of the fourth estate of the realm especially in all aspects of the health sector.

In the lecture entitled, Media as effective catalyst of fundamental health Care reforms, The Project Director, Development Communication Network, Mr Jimoh Akinlabi believed that the greater journalists involved in information research on health issues, the more convinced the members of the public become which spurs them to take action on their health status and policies.
