Custodians of Yoruba culture have been admonished to diversy the teaching of cultural activities to upcoming generation in a way that would capture their attention and preserve the cultural values.

Special guest and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Ìgàngán in Ibarapa North Local government, Oyo state, Chief Oladipo Gbenro stated this at the Award ceremony organized by Egbe Akomolede ati Asa Yoruba, Association of Teachers of Yoruba language and culture held at Oba Akinbiyi High School, Mokola, Ibadan.

Chief Gbenro observed that it is the duty of all Yoruba descendants to preserve their cultural values to avoid its going into extinction.

The Chairman, Egbe Akomolede Yoruba Ìbàdàn-Ilé zone who is also a prolific writer, Chief Akeem Ajibade lauded the awardees for their landmark contributions to cultural development in Yoruba land while urging governments at all levels to massively support the group because of the immense societal benefits.

In his acceptance speech, former General Manager, Radio Amuludun fm, Moniya, Ibadan, Chief Olusola Adewale who received an Award of Excellence, appreciated the organizers for the gesture and pledged further support of Radio Nigeria in all culture programmes.

Our correspondent, Ambassador Adetayo, who was at the event reported that it featured cultural displays, Ewi rendition and Yoruba lecture while some other prominent promoters of culture were honoured with awards, including Commissioner for information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, represented by the Director of his Ministry, Mr Gideon Aládé(crown owner), BCOS Chairman, Mr Dotun Oyelade represented by Mr Wale Rufai amongst others.
