Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has officially presented staff and instruments of office to the Elenpe of Tapa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Oyekanmi Titiloye.
The Deputy Governor, Chief Adebayo Lawal presented the staff and instruments of Office to the new monarch on behalf of the Governor at Tapa Community High School, Tapa, Ibarapa North Local Government.
In his address, the deputy governor reaffirmed the commitment of the Seyi Makinde-led administration to improving the traditional institution in the state while deepening the relationship between the government and the institution.
He stated that the selection process that led to Oba Titilayo Oyekanmi’s ascension to the throne was a testament to the state government’s commitment to tradition, transparency, and the rule of law adding that the endorsement of the family, the local government, and the Ministry demonstrated the confidence reposed in the leadership of the monarch.
The deputy governor expressed his appreciation to everyone involved in making the ceremony a success and thanked the people of Tapa for their unwavering support, while urging them to continue to work together to build a brighter future for generations to come.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, felicitated the people of Tapa, assuring that the reign of the new monarch would usher in economic development and prosperity.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Oyekan, who succeeded late Oba Joseph Oladejo One in 2015 after his unanimous nomination, had been piloting the affairs of Tapa, promoting peace and collaboration with critical stakeholders to fight poverty, hunger, and socio-economic imbalance in the area.
Oba Oyekan promised to continue to perform his duties with the fear of God in promoting peace, tranquillity, socio-economic balance, and social justice for the people of Tapa while engaging the government at both state and local government towards the development of the area.
