  • Renascent High School Aremo Ibadan Inaugurates Classrooms Renovated By 89 Set

    It was a moment of joy and show of love as the 1989 set, old students association of Renascent High School, Aremo, Ibadan reunite to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the school.


    The old student expressed excitement, reconnecting and sharing memories of their experiences while in school.


    Pupils were also not left out of the celebration as many of them trooped out in their numbers to take a glimpse of their old students who attended from all sets.


    Chairman of the 1989 set, Mr Segun Kosoko stressed the need for alumni associations to provide necessary support needed for schools to develop.

    Mr Kosoko said the 89 set of Renascent High school will continue to partner government through the schools governing board to make learning attractive to students.


    The old students however handed over a fully renovated block of five classrooms to the school’s authority.


    High point of the 58th Renascent High School, Aremo Ibadan Founder’s Day Celebration included, cultural display, debate and presentation of cash gift to brilliant students.

  • 61st Independence Anniversary: Oyo Gov. Urges Citizens To Intensify Prayer To Surmount Challenges

    Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde wants residents of the state and Nigerians in general to keep praying for Oyo State and the country in order to address present challenges.

    The governor, who stated this during a special thanksgiving service to commemorate Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary, held at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, added that despite the myriad of challenges facing the country, all hope is not lost.

    Governor Makinde who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government,Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun.
    urged residents of the state to continue to support his government to succeed in its avowed determination to uplift the state.

    In his sermon, the Provost of the Cathedral of St.Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, Very Revd. Adewale Adebiyi, urged leaders in the country to rule with absolute fear of God.

    He maintained that Nigerian leaders should continue to live and lead in accordance with “God’s injunctions.”
    He also admonished leaders to uphold justice and fairness on all issues.

    According to him, Nigerian leaders and followers must be pious, fearless, patriotic and courageous in their day to day activities.

  • Anglican Synod: Clergy Calls for Judicious Use of COVID-19 Fund

    A bishop of the Diocese of Igbomina West of the Anglican Communion, the Right Reverend Olajide Adebayo has called for judicious use of the fund donated for the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

    He stated this during a lecture at the opening service of the first session of the 8th Synod held at Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo Ibadan.

    Reverend Adebayo said considering the havoc that COVID-19 had caused, it would be unfair if the fund meant to fight the virus was not effectively managed.

    Reverend Adebayo noted that Christians should not be wary or tired in calling on God for salvation from the calamity that has been troubling the country.

    On his part, the Diocesan Bishop and the President of Synod, The Most Reverend Segun Okubadejo said Christians should always work in the Lord’s way and never be tired of turning to him when the need be.

     He said the purpose of the yearly synod was to check the progress of the Anglican Communion and the way forward in the Lord’s way.

    The most Reverend Okubadejo said the programme was also targeted at some Christians who are becoming tired of the Lord due to one problem or the other.

    Two of the diocese members, who were recognized and honoured for working for the Lord, Mr Segun Oladejo and Mrs Roseline Aborisade, said the award would go a long way in making them better Christians.

    The first session of the eight synod which started on Sunday would come to an end on Thursday.

  • Oyo Government Vows to Fish out Arsonists who Burnt School

    Oyo State Government has vowed to bring to book, the perpetrators of an inferno which razed a block of three classrooms at Cannon Okusehinde Memorial Primary School, School I, Aremo, Ibadan.

    The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran made this known on when he visited the school to assess the level of destruction caused by the arsonists.

    Frowning at the masterminds of the inferno, Dr. Adeniran promised that the State Government would investigate the act of arson and fish out all culprits involved, noting that anyone found culpable would face the wrath of the law.

    “Oyo State Government will ensure that this particular incident of arson is investigated, and the offenders punished under the law.

    “The present administration will not tolerate or condone any form of vandalism or sabotage, especially on our public schools “, he continued. 

    “We will use them as example for others to learn that arson is very serious an offense, especially when the public school that represents liberation from all forms of backwardness is concerned.”

    Dr. Adeniran also promised that Government would put in place viable security measures and ensure it puts an end to the growing instance of arson, vandalism and destruction of school facilities in the State.

    The Executive Chairman further promised renovation of the burnt classes in the next FGN-UBEC/OYOSUBEB intervention projects. 

    He also approved with immediate merging of pupils of the burnt classes with their colleagues in School 2, noting that nothing should stall the learning process of these young ones.

    Speaking earlier, the Head Teacher, Cannon Okusehinde Memorial School, Aremo, School I, Mrs. Sherifat Salam described the inferno as the height of vandalism on the school.

    She told to the Executive Chairman that hoodlums have incessantly burgled the school over the past weeks.

  • We will not abandon any project – Governor Makinde

    Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, says his government will complete all abandoned projects in the state to ensure that state get value for its money.

    A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa notes that the Governor stated this during Thanksgiving service in respect of his 100 days in office at the St. Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan.

    According to the Governor, his government is yet to commence new projects as he was determined to complete all abandoned projects.

    Governor Makinde promised that the present administration in Oyo would ensure that the people derive value for their money on every project.

    Earlier, the Provost of the church, The Very Reverend Adewale Adebiyi, who preached on the topic: “Thanksgiving: The Road to Success,” described Governor Makinde as a wise man for showing full commitment to the welfare of the people through prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensions as well as free education.

    Reverend Adebiyi lamented that most leaders in Nigeria and mostly people of the black race often demonstrate lack of wisdom by allowing ego and self-centeredness to dominate them.
