Lack of interest by succeeding governments and unnecessary interference have been identified as some of the factors affecting Agricultural Development Programs in Nigeria.

Provost, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Professor Gbemiga Adewale stated this in Ogbomoso while delivering a lecture.

Professor Adewale said with over twenty agricultural development programs in the country, if succeeding governments had taken continuity seriously and with free hands to operate by those at the helms of affairs, the programs would have recorded more successes.

He called on the Federal Government to revisit the agricultural development blueprint submitted by the former Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina pointing out that the work was full of plans that would enhance the development of Agriculture in the country.

As May 29th transition day draws nearer, Professor Adewale appealed to both Federal and State governments to strengthen the existing agricultural development programs for better performance.

Professor Adewale added that Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora had also contributed significantly to agricultural development programs through manpower development in areas of training, capacity building and value addition.
