Present and Aspiring Political leaders in Nigeria have been advised to always come up with long term developmental plans beyond their tenure of office.

A chieftain of the Action Democratic Party, ADP in Oyo state, Mr Akim Yusuf gave the advice while featuring on political space, an interview programme on Premier FM, Ibadan.

Mr Yusuf, who was a special adviser to former Governor of Oyo state, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, claimed that most political leaders in the country were mainly concerned with what they could achieve during their tenures, rather than embarking on projects that would have lasting impacts on the nation’s economy.

Mr Yusuf said this mindset had often resulted to lack of continuity in governance because every leader wanted to take the glory for whatever project done under their administration.

Mr Yusuf noted that if the nation’s leaders did not begin to have a reorientation about governance, the desired development Nigeria craved for would not be achieved.
