The Inspector General of Police, Mr Akhali Baba has told men and officers of the force that the implimentation of twenty percent salary increase approved by President Muhammadu Buhari is on course.

The Police boss gave the information while addressing officers and men of the force at the State Headquarters in Osogbo, Osun state.

Represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police incharge of Research and planning, Mr Johnson Kokumo, the IGP explained that the delay in the implimentation was as a result of the necessary bureaucratic process involved.

He said the salary increase as graciously approved by Mr President was irreversible,hence officers and men of the force had no cause to worry.

The Inspector General of Police also said much effort had been put into the Police men resolve to exit the Contributory pension scheme, a position which he said had been presented to the House of Representatives and over which a public hearing had been conducted.

Mr Usman Baba also added that as part of measures to solve the challenge of shortage of accommodation of Police officers, existing barracks were being rehabilitated, while new ones were being constructed Nationwide.

He warned men of the force against embarking on any strike as being rumored, reminding them that such constituted an offence of mutiny in Law.

The IGP admonished officers to respect the rights of Nigerians whom they were paid to protect.

Earlier, Commissioner of Police in Osun state, Mr Olawale Olokode had told the visitor that the Osun Command was contending with the challenges of logistics, inadequate accommodation, unavailability of modern police gadgets among other challenges.

Mr Olokode said with support from sister agencies and local security network, men and officers of the Command had gallantly risen to the security problems confronting the State.

He assured the IGP that Police men in the state remained loyal to the force and would never be part of any rumoured strike action.
