Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State want the National Population Commission, NPC to carry out an all-inclusive population and housing census next year.

They made this known at the presentation of the compendium of localities workshop held in Ibadan as part of activities in preparation towards the coming census.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Association of Local Government Chairmen, ALGON, Oyo State, Mr Sikiru Sanda, urged the population commission to carry along all thirty-three LG Chairmen in their planning and to engage indigent qualified personnel in the census exercise.

Mr Sanda pledged the support of the state Government and other LG Chairmen to ensure realistic data for the census.

Earlier in a message to the workshop, National Chairman NPC, Mr Nasir Isa-Kwarra restated the resolve of the NPC to rewrite the history of census in Nigeria.

On his part, state Director, NPC, Mr Abdulkareem Bello said the recruitment e-portal had been launched in Abuja while urging interested people to apply online.

Head of the Technical Team NPC Headquarters Abuja, Mr Demilade Opaleke assured the stakeholders that their suggestions would be put into consideration in the planning stages.

Participants at the workshop included the 33 Local Government Chairmen, Community leaders, technical nominees and NPC Controllers drawn from the Local Government areas in Oyo State.
