Oyo State Police Command has paraded a self-confessed suspected cultist, Najeem Ridwan, who allegedly hacked a man to death in Oyo town.

The suspected cultist was paraded alongside other alleged suspects at Police Headquarters, Eleyele Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Adewale Osifeso.

While parading the suspects, Mr Osifeso said some members of a dreaded criminal syndicate, who were also members of a dreaded secret cult organization responsible for a series of armed robbery attacks and needless killing of innocent members of the society in Oyo town, invaded the house of one Kareem.

He said the complainant managed to escape during the incursion of his assailants but his friend, Jimoh Akeem who shared his apartment and was sleeping at the time was gruesomely murdered in the process.

The Police spokesperson said the assailants vandalized properties in the house, carted away some valuable items and later fled from the scene.

However, in response to the distress received by operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit, who at the time was on intelligence-led patrols, rushed to the scene with the intent of salvaging the situation, but the victim was confirmed dead by the medical experts at the clinic with his remains deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.

He said in furtherance of investigations by police operatives in a bid to demystify the situation, two participants in the heinous crime were apprehended at their respective hideouts.

Also, the police PRO said a distress call was received at the Monitoring Unit Office, Oyo Operational Base, that some notorious hoodlums who had been unleashing mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public in the town had invaded Iseke Area Oyo where they brutally attacked one Olamilekan Ajakaye and also dispossessed him of his cell phones and amount of money found in his possession.

Mr Osifwso noted that Police operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit moved to the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the State Hospital in Oyo town, where he later gave up the ghost.

He noted that two of the assailants, who identified themselves as Abass Alanu and Olaniyan Monsuru, were arrested in connection with the crime and confessed to the crime.

The PPRO said that the Command specifically emphasized that the Peace and tranquillity enjoyed in the State were not subject to negotiation with unscrupulous elements who stood to make criminal proceeds by creating panic and anarchy.

Mr Osifeso who expressed the appreciation of the Oyo CP for the support received from sister agencies and well-meaning residents in the areas for providing credible and timely information said the CP encouraged residents of the state to remain law-abiding, generous with the truth and continue to assist the Police in birthing the crime-free Oyo State of their dreams.

Exhibits found with the suspects include an axe, two pieces of planks with blood stains used to attack the victim, a viral video footage capturing the brutal attack found on the suspects, 25 live cartridges, one walkie-talkie, UTC axe, one locally made axe, one cutlass, one dagger and one knife.
