Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Osun State has assured residents of the state that government will do everything within its reach to ensure that the heat of the fuel subsidy removal is not much felt in the State.

The Chairman of ALGON, Osun State, Otunba Sarafadeen Awotunde stated this after the resolution of the fuel subsidy removal committee to commence the distribution of bags of rice made available by the federal government.

Otunba Awotunde who eulogized the native intelligence of members of the committee to ensure fairness in the distribution of the palliatives noted that every necessary group will benefit from the largesse.

According to him, the decision to give the first batch of the palliatives to Atakunmosa East, and West, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Boluwaduro, Boripe Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo local governments deserves commendations.  

He noted that the rice would not be distributed to individuals, but to religious bodies, civil societies, pensioners, market women groups and the non-formal workers to ensure equitable distributions.

Assuring the residents of Osun state that the palliatives will be distributed without political, inclinations, the ALGON Chairman urged individuals to continue their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, as it will not renege on its electoral promises.

In the meantime, other local governments are to take their palliatives between Thursday and Friday.
