More collaborative efforts is needed from Stakeholders in support of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, for a peaceful society.

The President, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Society of Nigeria, ADR Society, Chief Kole Ojo stated this during an event held at NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chief Ojo while delivering Lecture on the theme: ” The Role of Media in Dispute Resolution” said, Media is a veritable tool that was capable of mediating on issues without bias and should not be used to attack people in the society.

He also appealed to Lawyers to be telling their clients the truth ahead of every matter, so as to avoid congesting the courts with unmeritorious suits, whereas the ADR could have been the best option to embrace in settling such matters amicably.

While speaking on the selected Awardees, the President, ADR Society maintained that, they were carefully chosen based on their antecedents and commitment to the Principles and Practice of ADR in their respective professions.

Some of the LifeTime Awardees included, Former Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolatito Joseph, Former Head of News and Current Affairs Department, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Adenrele Ajisefinni and former General Manager, Premier FM Ibadan, Alhaji Bashir Omotosho.
Others were, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Oyo State, Chief Ademola Babalola, General Manager, Premier FM, Ibadan, Mr. Adedamola Tinubu, Manager Translations FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Abisola Oluremi and Mayegun of Iroko Ekiti, Chief Sunday Babanumi.

In their separate remarks, some of the Awardees commended the ADR Society of Nigeria for monitoring their activities in the society which necessitated the Awards given to them, with a promise to do more towards making the society a peaceful one to live.

They called on people to opt for Alternative Dispute Resolution in handling civil matters for quick and amicable resolution of issues.
