Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has called for more productive efforts that could boost internally generated revenue for states rather than being distracted by the grant of local government autonomy.

He made the call while hosting executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, led by National President, Chief Chris Isiguzo, at the Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.

The governor who was conferred as grand patron of NUJ, Oyo State Council, enjoined Nigerian journalists to embrace developmental journalism and align with the government in solving burning issues.

While describing the award conferred on him as a call to reconnect with journalism, Governor Makinde enjoined media outfits to always consider overriding interest of the people before other considerations.

Earlier, NUJ National President, Chief Chris Isiguzo, commended Governor Makinde’s massive and unprecedented infrastructural projects saying  he has left an indelible mark in the history of Oyo state.

Chief Isiguzo stressed the need for journalists to deviate from the act of painting the country black but should project outstanding political office holders positively.

On the entourage of Chief Isiguzo was the Chairman, NUJ, Oyo State, Oyo State Council Ademola Babalola and other national and state executive members.
