Oyo State Government has vowed to ensure that next year’s budget is passed into law and assented to by the governor before the end of this year. 

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Adeniyi Farinto stated this at a day Pre-budget Workshop held at the State Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking with newsmen, Mr Adeniyi Farinto said the state had mapped out strategies to achieve January-December budget circle to make budget performance and evaluation easier

Mr Farinto said circular had been sent to MDAs to bring their documents so as to beat December 31st deadline.

Mr Farinto pointed out that the workshop christened “Budget Realism” was to have an all-inclusive budget, which would meet the needs assessment of the people.

In a keynote address, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubanwo Adeosun tasked  revenue generation agencies to block all leakages, and proactively sensitize the public on the need for expanded revenue base.

Mrs Adeosun, who noted that the state had not performed adequately in budget implementation due to weak link between policies, plans and budget, said the development necessitated the decision of the present administration to create a Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. 

Economic Adviser to the State Governor, Dr Musibau Babatunde, stated that the Pre-budget planning would enhance effective planning for 2020 budget.
