The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State branch has directed retired primary school teachers and Local Government retirees to withdraw from the ongoing verification by the State government.

The union said this was due to the harsh environment under which the initiative was being carried out.

The State Secretary of the union, Mr. Olusegun Abatan, gave the directive in Ibadan while speaking with newsmen.

Mr. Abatan said retired primary school teachers and Local Government retirees were being confronted with inhumane treatment at the exercise.

He stated that the venues of the exercise at Ibadan, Oyo and Ogbomoso were without chairs, while some pensioners fainted in the process.

Mr. Abatan also said that the computers being used by the consultant for the exercise were inadequate while some were not working properly.

While enjoining the State Government to be more humane with process of the exercise, Mr. Abatan added that the withdrawal of the pensioners should not affect payment of pensions.
