Member elect of Oyo State House of Assembly from Ibadan North State Constituency 1, Mr. Oyekunle Fola has appealed to the State National and House of Assembly Petition Tribunal to strike out a petition filed by a former Commissioner for Youth and Sport in the state, Mr. Faruq Alao against his victory in the March 9, House of Assembly election.

Counsel to the respondent, Mr. Tunji Ogunrinde while making the appeal, said the petition was not properly filed as it does not contain the name of the respondent.

Mr. Ogunrinde told the Tribunal that the petitioner mentioned different names in the petition which had nothing to do with the respondent.

According to the counsel, the petitioner wrote Oluwafemi Adedayo in a paragraph and Popoola Ademola in another paragraph, noting that the development meant that the petition was not for his client Mr. Oyekunle Fola .

He urged the tribunal to strike it out petition, describing it as a dead application.

However, the application was opposed by counsel to the petitioner, Mr Kunle Shobaloju, who said the application was not properly signed and stamped, urging the Tribunal to dismiss it.

Ruling on their argument, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Anthony Akpovi told the respondent to amend the application and adjourned till this week Wednesday.
