Delta State
Government says it has set up four holding centres across the state as a
proactive measure in preparedness in the event of an outbreak of the coronavirus
disease.
The state’s Commissioner for Health
Dr. Mordi Ononye made this known during a tour of a renovated isolation and
treatment centre located at the Specialist Hospital in Asaba, the capital city.
Dr. Ononye while stressing that there was no case of the corona disease in Delta State, also revealed that training sessions have begun for personnel who would handle the facilities and treat patients with symptoms of the COVID-19 in the case of an outbreak.
The Commissioner explained that the Specialist Hospital houses over two hundred beds while indicating two wards had been mapped out for procedural treatment and isolation of persons with confirmed cases of the disease.
He added that the hospital was equipped with a laboratory and a functional drug revolving system, including the availability of treatment kits for caregivers.
