Three members of a five man gang accused of raping a lady at gun point have been apprehended by the police in Ogun State.
The five suspects had allegedly made contacts with the lady on social media and lured her to their hideout at Ogijo in Sagamu local government area of the state, where they took turns on her and recorded the incident on camera.
The suspects reportedly committed the crime on Thursday, 23rd July 2020 while three of them, 35 year old Sola Olaoluwa, 19 year old Ibrahim Kehinde and 20 year old Lukman Banjoko were arrested by a team of detectives from Ogijo divisional formation of the police.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi told newsmen that the victim lodged a complaint that one of the suspects simply known as Enny Money, had told her to download a phone application in the bid to access funding and the same suspect while chatting with her under a fake identity had invited her to the hideout where she was raped.
Mr Abimbola added that the lady’s report indicated that the five suspects had identified themselves as members of one million boys while forcing her to submission at gun point and recording the scene with a phone.
The PPRO said two of the suspects were arrested around 5am on Friday 24th of July 2020, while the third was picked up on the 26th of July by detectives dispatched by the Divisional Police Officer, Ogijo division, CSP Muhammed Baba Suleman.
Spokesman of the State Police Command who disclosed that the suspects made confessional statements that the victim was the second person they had gang raped in that area said one toy gun with which they allegedly used to force their victim to submission and the phone used for video recording had been recovered.
He pointed out that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had directed the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to handle the case for in depth investigation and prompt arrest of the two remaining members of the gang.
