Experts have called on government at all levels to increase the budgetary allocation to education to further assist in provision of facilities to promote hygienic leaning environment for girl child.

The experts in their submissions at an event in Abeokuta to mark the international day of the girl child stressed the need for the empowerment of girl child with digital devices to train them ahead of challenges.

A don at Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Professor, Helen Bodunde in her keynote address entitled ‘Digital Generation: Our Generation’ stated that adequate funding was required to prepare the girl child for the future.

Professor Bodunde who is also the coordinator of the Education, Gender, Youth and Family network explained that Girls needed to be exposed to Information and media literacy, Digital scholarship, Career and identity management skills to enable them to attain deserved positions in the society.

Also speaking, the Ogun state coordinator of Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All, Mr. Olufemi Olusola in a remark stated that girl child was an important factor in the society that must be properly trained ahead of future tasks.

He called for the provisions of digital devices for training for girls as they would be the influencing the society in the future.

Also speaking, the Media Officer of Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development, Mr. Tola Adenekan called for an inclusive e-learning in all levels of educational institutions in Nigeria to bridge the digital gap among Nigerian students in competing with their peers globally.
