A grandmother, Furera Abubakar, who claimed to be 100 years old, was also apprehended.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspects brought Yunusa to Rimin Hamza Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area and used a sharp knife to remove his right eyeball before fleeing.

“Police took the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a medical Practitioner confirmed that the victim’s eyeball was violently removed using a sharp object, and the victim was hospitalised,” the PPRO added.

The adolescent suspect, a resident of Dantsinke in Rimin Hamza Quarters Tarauni LGA, was apprehended on Tuesday with the assistance of a local vigilante from Sheka Quarters, who added that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to perpetrating the crime.

Isah Hassan also revealed that he sought advice from his 16-year-old friend, Sani Abdulrahman, on how to obtain a charm that would allow him to vanish, after which the friend sent him to his grandmother, Furera.

Hassan went on to say that after giving the woman the eyeball, she ordered him to bring five hundred naira, but when he didn’t have the money, she advised him to put it in a safe place and bring it back when he did.
