Ogun State government has adopted strategies to enhance residents’ compliance with the rule of obtaining layout permits before undertaking construction projects in any part of the state. 

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Olatunji Odunlami made this known during an inspection tour of Zonal Town Planning offices across the state. 

Mr Odunlami who explained that the measure would help to facilitate proper physical planning urged the Zonal Town Planning Officers to ensure proper record keeping and uphold standard practice in approving building plans to regulate land use and curb illegal construction. 

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development encouraged the Zonal Officers to reach out to the people through their community leaders, traditional rulers and other opinion leaders to spread the relevant information on obtaining layout permits before embarking on construction works. 

Mr Odunlami while appreciating the support of the Ologijo of Ogijo, Oba Kazeem Gbadamosi and other community leaders for the provision of a permanent site for the Ogijo Zonal Town Planning Office also appealed to other community leaders to support the government in the bid to further develop the state. 

Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Tunde Olugbewesa and the Acting General Manager of Ogun State Planning Permit Authority, Mr Kolawole Ogun advised the officers to ensure proper monitoring of development projects and guard against illegal construction works. 

Responding on behalf of the Zonal Town Planning Officers, Mr Olalekan Oduwole said the visit has availed them the opportunity to analyze their challenges with a view to enhancing the discharge of their duties.
