Today is International Women’s Day, IWD.

It is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women.

Every year, the day is celebrated to commemorate the cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements made by women in various fields.

It is a significant occasion for all involved in the fight for gender equity and equality. The day’s conception is embedded with the worldwide struggle for better living and working conditions for women which dated back to 1911.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”.

It is to bring to the fore the role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls.

The campaign is to bring about a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.
