Media Professionals have been urged to at all times employ truthfulness in their reportage as the watchdog of the society to take the country to the greater heights.
Founder of Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Eagles Wings Assembly, Wakajaye Road, Iyana Church, Ibadan, Pastor Akinlolu Akinade made this known during the thanksgiving service held at the Church to mark 2023 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council.
Pastor Akinade while stressing the roles of Journalists to nation building, maintained that when they adhere to ethical standards guiding the profession, the country would be better for it.
Pastor Akinade prayed for the Journalists for God’s continued protection and promotion in the course of carrying out their constitutional duties.
In an interview, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Alhaji Demola Babalola said the NUJ Press Week is an annual event which provides an opportunity for the people in the pen profession to come together to merry and discuss topics of national interest that could benefit the country.
Alhaji Babalola called on Members of NUJ in the state to shun reports which could distintegrate Nigeria’s unity or hinder its peaceful co-existence
While thanking God for his protection over all the Members of the Union in the State, Alhaji Babalola expressed appreciation to the Church, particularly, the Pastor in Charge, Akinlolu Akinade and his Wife who is a popular Gospel Singer, Mrs Olubukola Akinade, also known as Senwele Jesu, for the opportunity to begin the Union’s week thanksgiving in the church.
On his part, Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr. Akeem Abas thanked the Members of the State Executive and all members of the Council for their support ,enjoining them to take part in the remaining activities lined up for the week.
Radio Nigeria reports that members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists who cladded in White and Green Attires, were thrilled to various songs by Mrs Olubukola Akinade.
Highlight of the programme was the cutting of the Oyo NUJ Anniversary cake.
