The Newly Installed Chairperson of Oyo State Netball Association, Mrs Romoke Ayinde has called on the Government and lovers of Sports to rally round the development of the resuscitated game of Netball in the Country and make it popular among other Games.
Mrs Ayinde made the call during the Unveiling of the Game, and Commissioning of Projects at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.
She said Netball had been forgotten in Nigeria for almost Fifty years, appealed to well meaning nigerians to contribute to Sports development particularly, Netball Game which was capable of reducing crimes among the Youths.
Mrs Romoke Ayinde promised to work with all female Schools in Oyo State to catch the Students young and encourage those willing to develop interest in Netball.
Speaking, a Gospel Singer, Mrs Funmi Aragbaye decried the current state of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, old Liberty Stadium Ibadan, saying Federal Government needs to revive the heritage in the interest of this generation and the next.
Netball is similar to Basketball, Netball is a game of Seven Players of Two Teams without dribbling and some other rules.
