Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Mr Augustine Padonu has called on newly recruited officers of the corps to be dedicated and professional while discharging their Responsibilities.

Mr Padonu gave the advice during the passing out parade of the fifty 2022/2023 recruits at its headquarters Agodi Ibadan.

He urged them to keep striving for excellence and channel their efforts on the safety and well-being of the people of the State as they embark on the noble journey of Service to humanity.

“To the trainees, I once again congratulate you on this milestone and as you join the corps, I urge you to uphold the honor the integrity of our corps, and to carry out your duties with utmost determination and professionalism “

Our mandate is to strengthen our disaster response capabilities, promote public awareness and education, and foster partnerships with local communities “

“We also play a vital role in crime detection and prevention, peace and conflict resolution, disaster management, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, licensing and monitoring private guard companies, anti vandalism, preventing illegal mining activities, anti human trafficking and human rights violation as well as working closely with other law enforcement agencies “

The NSCDC boss in Oyo state, therefore, called on the new recruits to always abide by the corps rules and regulations in upholding the core it’s mandate

On his part, the Head of Training, NSCDC, Mr Olubola Aluko said the recruits spent six months to learn the rudiments of paramilitary which included basic induction, drills and weapon handling as well as field crags and drills and parade.

“Other courses taught included, internal security, root of regimentation, information gathering, first responder and crimes scene investigation, scheme and condition of service, NSCDC Acts and security awareness, civil protection of civilians, financial regulations, peace and conflict, agro rangers operations, gender mainstreaming, counter terrorism, democratic principles, private guard companies and safe school projects “

“The height of the training which they went through range from the preliminary stage till the time they went to fire live ammunition’

The Training Commander, Mr Aluko said the command has produced well refined and better weapon handlers that would be devoid of stray bullets.

“With them , we are safer because of their consciousness of what they bear”

Some of the new recruits who spoke with Radio Nigeria promised to follow all the rules that bind the corps and would always be professional while discharging their civic responsibilities.

Declaring the event open, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state implored the passing out trainees to be dedicated to the work of their fatherland discharge their duty without fear or favour.

Governor Makinde who spoke through his Special Adviser on Security Matters who is also a retired Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseeni said maintaining peace and stability in the state was paramount to his administration.

He promised not to relent at providing necessary mechanisms to enhance the security architecture in the state for betterment of the citizens.

Representatives of all the security agencies in Oyo state graced the occasion.
