Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC has pledged commitment to partner the Kaduna Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, KADCCIMA, to promote competitiveness of the country in the global market through value chain development.

Managing director, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Mr. Bello Hassan, stated this during a programme at the 45th Kaduna International Trade Fair with the theme, “Sustainable Economic Recovery Through Deepening of Local content Value Chain” in Kaduna.

Represented by the Deputy Director Communications, Hajia Hawawu Gambo, the MD said the partnership would provide a platform for a deeper conversation on the economic recovery process.

He said the theme was in line with the corporation’s mandate and public policy of ensuring stability of the financial system toward providing the necessary support to the economic recovery efforts of governments and other business entities.

Mr. Hassan, however, pointed out that the topmost priority of NDIC was the protection of Nigerian depositors to promote financial inclusion as accessibility for economic growth and development.

He expressed commitment of the corporation toward safeguarding depositors’ funds from the adverse effects of bank failures, and to complement government in effective supervision of financial institutions across the country.

The President, Kaduna Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, KADCCIMA Mr. Ishaya Idi, said the theme focuses on nurturing indigenous industries to reduce over-dependence on iimportsfrom other countries.

According to Mr Idi, fostering a robust local content value chain would enhance the ability of the Nigerian economy to withstand external shocks, contribute to social development and build a foundation for long-term economic prosperity.
