Contractors handling the ongoing renovation and construction of school buildings across Ekiti State have been warned against using substandard materials to execute the projects.
The Chairman, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Fransisca Aladejana who gave the warning during a visit to some of the ongoing projects in Ikere Ekiti, stressed that any contractor who failed to execute to SUBEB specification or give value for money collected would be blacklisted.
She told the contractors that the board would not certify for the payment of any of the projects poorly executed.
Professor Aladejana noted that the government was spending a lot of money to upgrade facilities in public schools to make the environment conducive for teaching and learning.
At AUD Nursery and Primary School, Oke Ikere , Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Aladejana expressed displeasure with the quality of roofing materials used by the contractor renovating a block of classrooms in the school and ordered the contractor to replace such with immediate effect.
