The gubernatorial and state House of Assembly election in Oyo state today witnessed comparatively low turnout but generally peaceful.

Radio Nigeria election correspondents who went round Ibadan Northwest LG, Ibadan North, Ibadan North East, Egbeda and Ido Local governments in Oyo state observed that security personnel are well positioned at the various Wards.

In an interview, a direct election observer, Miss Uduak Etuk lauded INEC for improving the card reader efficiency and punctuality of the adhoc staff adding that the process was peaceful and orderly.

Mr. Momoth Kenneth an INEC Supervisory Polling Officer said many voters received a pleasant surprise meeting the INEC staff at polling units early in the morning unlike the presidential election which was delayed for logistical reasons.

Many voters who were visibly excited waited until the sorting and counting of their votes as counting and summary announcement of results has been concluded in most of the polling units.
