Government’s health officials have been deployed to Oke Owa in Ijare Local Government area of Ondo State to fumigate the scene where 36 cows were struck to death by thunderbolt.

The officials numbering 13, carried out the fumigation seven days after the incident occurred.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent, Leke Adegbite, who visited the town at the weekend, reports that the fumigation was performed for about 45minutes by environmental health officers from the Ifedore Local Government’s Environmental Health Services.

Speaking with newsmen after the exercise, the Deputy Director, Environmental Health Services in  Ifedore, Mr Olasehinde Olabanji explained that the fumigation was ordered by government to prevent outbreak of epidemic at Ijare community.

Mr Olabanji assured the people of the area where 36 cows were struck to death by thunderbolt that with the fumigation, healthy living would be guaranteed.
