Oyo State Governor-elect, Mr. Seyi Makinde has assured the people of the state that his administration will pursue true federalism to take more people in the state out of poverty line with his agenda when sworn-in on May 29.

He said this when the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Southwest executive paid him a congratulatory visit at his Ikolaba residence, in Ibadan.

Mr. Makinde said true federalism would develop region and take people out of poverty.

“Oyo State is where it all began politically during the regional government. We will work towards ensuring true federalism in Nigeria. We believe that if we have true federalism we can quickly develop our region and take more of our people out of poverty”.

Mr. Makinde, who expressed his appreciation to the zonal leadership of the party for its support, said he was aware of the task ahead and promised not to disappoint the party as well as the people in the state.

“I will be needing your support in that direction. Ibadan happens to be the seat of the Southwest and we will ensure that the job is made easy for you to support our course as I look forward to this journey together after we are sworn-in.”

Earlier in his response, the Zonal Chairman of PDP Southwest, Dr. Eddy Olafeso thanked the governor-elect and the party hierarchy in the state for making the party proud during the March 9 governorship and House of Assembly election.

Dr. Olafeso urged the Oyo State Governor-elect to lead a new course in the region as exemplified by Late Obafemi Awolowo to help the masses.

“The Yoruba race on May 29, 2019, expects you to wear the shoes meant for men like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Ladoke Akintola. I have no iota of doubt that Makinde will do well for our state. We must allow the crown on the governor-elect’s head to settle.”

On the Southwest PDP delegation include the Zonal Secretary, Reverend Bunmi Jenyo, Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka, Zonal Youth Leader, Femi Adetola, and Abayomi Tella.
