Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has inaugurated sixty-eight local government caretaker chairmen across the 33 councils and 35 Local Council development areas in the state.

The inauguration was held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Makinde said the step became imperative in order not to create a vacuum  in governance and for good governance.

Governor Makinde urged the caretaker chairmen to prioritize the four main pillars of the present government roadmap to accelerate development at the grassroots level.

The governor equally tasked them on the growth of the economy through agriculture and trade, pointing out that economy of Oyo State could not grow without micro businesses.

He enjoined them to contribute meaningful quota towards moving the state forward. 

The inauguration was witnessed by top government functionaries, politicians, friends and families of the new council chairmen.
