The Osun State House of Assembly is set to pass the 2020 Appropriation Bill following the adoption of the report of House Committee on Finance and Appropriation at the plenary of the House.

This follows the presentation of the Budget by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Taiwo Adebayo.

The Committee in its report recommended that people at the grassroots should be educated on tax in order to increase IGR from payment of tax.

The Committee also recommended that every revenue leakages in Ministries and Agencies should be blocked, advising the state government to ensure prompt release of fund for revenue generating agencies to effectively perform their duty.

The Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye while calling for motion for adoption of the budget commended the Committee for thorough work done during budget defence.

The motion for adoption was moved by Majority Leader, Mr. Maruf Olanrewaju and seconded by the Deputy Chief Whip, Mr. Gbenga Ogunkanmi.

The House had conducted a defence of the budget estimates of the 78 MDA’S between November 26 and December 19, 2019 to pave way for the approval of the 2020 budget presented by Governor Gboyega Oyetola on the November 13, 2019 in line with section 121 sub section 1 of the 1999 constitution as amended.
