Oyo state government says it has commenced the distribution of potable water to some areas in Ibadan, having successfully generated potable water for residents of Beere in Ibadan South East local government. 

Chairman, Water Corporation of Oyo state, Dr Adebayo Adepoju disclosed this in an interview with Radio Nigeria

While stressing that the state water corporation has begun the supplies in phases which he categorized into thirteen districts, Dr Adepoju explained that three districts within Ibadan comprising Alakia, Bodija/Secretariat axis and Jericho are presently under work in progress. 

He promised that no zone in Oyo state will be left out of the ongoing intervention drive in the provision of potable water in the state saying the government is resuscitating the Eruwa dam by ensuring power supply and rehabilitation supply networks to serve the Ibarapa zone. 

Dr Adepoju who identified lack of electricity as a major challenge to the corporation, said an alternative source of power to produce water for residents of Oyo state is being considered, appealing to them to be patient with the present government as efforts are being intensified to ensure provision of pipe borne water.
