Nigeria Association of Women Journalist, NAWOJ today embarked on a virtual campaign against rape and other gender-based violence.

The online campaign with hashtag #nawojnationwide campaign #nawojstandagainstrape #nomeansno is currently trending on different social media platforms.

The national president of the association Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole urged member and the general public to continue to share the hashtag on various platforms

Speaking on this trend ,the vice president B zone Mrs Morenike Tony -Esan decried the increasing cases of rape in the country hence the need for parents to train their boy child to respect girls .

On her part the Chairperson of NAWOJ in Ondo state, Doris Olumoko said that all hand must be on deck to address the menace and sanitize the society.

Similarly, her counterpart in Ekiti state, Alhaja Fatima Bello expressed dismay with the continuous gender abuse cases, rape and kill menace in recent time calling on government to make the society safer for women.

The minister of women affairs and social development, Pauline Tallen in a message to the association commended the virtual campaign to stop gender based violence in the country.
