Kogi State Government is to establish the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.

This was part of resolutions reached at the State Executive Council Meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Lokoja.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the Council Meeting, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, said the aim was to ensure that Kogi had enough manpower in the area of science and technology based courses that would feed industries in the state especially the Ajaokuta Steel Company.

Mr Fanwo disclosed that arrangements would be concluded to transmit the bill establishing the institution to the State House of Assembly through the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

On his part, Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulmumin Danga, said the Council further gave approval for the reticulation of water from Osara dam to Okene and environs.

According to him, contract for the project had been approved through a PPP arrangement to help curb water scarcity in three of the local councils in the Central Senatorial District of the state.

The Commissioner further added that work would commence soon.
