Commercial drivers plying Ado Iworoko road, Ekiti state today suspended operations for few hours over the hike pump in price of fuel and other commodities.

The drivers forced down passengers from vehicles of their colleagues already working, a development that left many passengers stranded.

However, the drivers announced an increase in the fare from one hundred naira to one hundred and fifty naira.

Speaking with journalists, two of the drivers, Ope Alabi and Jide  Ogundana claimed that the increase was inevitable going by the hike in the pump price of fuel which is the major means of operations for them.

Also, some passengers including, Bola Ajayi, Segun Ayodele and James Akomolafe expressed concern over the development which they said was a complication of hardship currently being experienced by the masses

They called on the Federal Government to reverse the pump price of petrol  especially now that the country is still battling with the consequential effects of the covid-19 pandemic.

As at the time of this report , the drivers have resumed operation with the new fare.
