Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved Monday 21st September as the resumption dates for 2020/2021 academic session for public and private primary, secondary and tertiary Institutions in the state with adjustment of morning and afternoon shift.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Education,Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye indicates that Schools now will now operate morning and afternoon shift for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools.
According to the statement, those in Primary one to three will operate between 8.00 am and 11.00 am and Primary 4 to 6 will go to school from noon to 3.00 pm.
For secondary school students, JSS one to three, 8.00 am – 11.00 am while SSS one to three will operate from noon and 3pm.
The statement advises School Heads to make temporary use of spaces like Laboratories, Libraries and examination hall as classroom where necessary to observe social distancing
In another development, the Governor has also approved the re-opening of state owned tertiary institutions and Private Institutions for regular academic activities to commence from Monday 28th September, 2020.
The statement directs academic boards and Senate of institutions to fixed their date and comply strictly with the guidelines on re-opening .
