Twenty members of Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, have signed a resolution seeking for immediate replacement of the assembly’s mace.
This formed part of the outcome of an emergency meeting chaired by the speaker, Mr Olakunle Oluomo at the Assembly Complex in Abeokuta.
A statement by the Clerk of the House, Mr Adedeji Adeyemo indicated that lawmakers had explained that the replacement would enable the assembly to continue its legislative business with ease.
The statement also pointed out that the 20 lawmakers, who described the incident as a mere case of theft, maintained six of their colleagues who were absent at the meeting had earlier sought the approval of the speaker to be excused and were equally in support of the assembly’s resolution.
The statement affirmed that there was no cause for alarm as the lawmakers remained committed to their legislative duties.
