Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Rtd. Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba- Marwa has said that about 15 million Nigerians were engaging in drug abuse in the Country.
Rtd Brigadier General Buba – Marwa who made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in Okemosan Abeokuta, said
out of the number South West Region has the highest of 22.4 percent.
While pointing out that the work of the agency was hazardous, the Chairman said that the agency would continue to collaborate with the State governments and relevant agencies towards reducing prevalence of drug abuse to the barest minimum.
Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who described the prevalence of drug abuse in the country as alarming, said his administration had adopted various measures towards ensuring that dangerous plants were not planted in the forest reserves.
While donating a brand new pick up truck and power bikes to the agency, Governor Abiodun promised to allocate land for the construction of NDLEA barracks in the State.
