The South West Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has thrown its weight behind southern governor’s forum that the next president of Nigeria should come from the south.

The party took the decision after its South West zonal caucus meeting held at the Oyo state government house, Agodi, Ibadan.

Reading the communique, the National Vice Chairman of PDP, Mr Olasoji Adagunodo, said the south west PDP demanded that all dispute resolution mechanisms be employed to unite members in the party.

The party also called for fairness, justice and equity in the distribution of federal positions and appointments adding that it would support all efforts geared towards national cohesion through equitable sharing of federal positions among the geopolitical zones.

Earlier, the host governor, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state appealed to the leaders of the Peoples’ Democratic party in the south west to be united ahead of the 2023 general election.

Governor Makinde therefore enjoined PDP South West party gladiators to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign in the interest of the party.
