The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended Dana Airlines’ Air Transport Licence (ATL) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) indefinitely.

NCAA Director General, Captain Musa Nuhu, stated that the decision is the result of a financial and economic health audit performed on the Airline, as well as the findings of a recent investigation into the Airline’s flight operations, which revealed that Dana Airlines is no longer in a position to meet its financial obligations and conduct safe flight operations.

He stated that he was aware of the negative impact the preemptive decision would have on the airline’s passengers and asked for their understanding, “as the safety of flight operations takes priority over all other considerations.”

This comes about 24 hours after a Dana aircraft on Tuesday made an emergency landing in Abuja after developing suspected engine problem midair.
