A combined team of security operatives has been on the trail of abductors of the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Yakubu Lawal.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel in a statement on Tuesday explains that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Adesina Soyemi had directed reinforcement of combined security operatives to Nasarawa Eggon to rescue the victim. 

It further says that the search and rescue team which was made up of Police Mobile Force, the Anti kidnapping unit, Military personnel, Vigilante as well as local hunters led by Police Area Commander Akwanga had been combing the bush all night with sustain pressure on the kidnappers to ensure that the commissioner was released unhurt.

He called on residents of the area to provide security agencies with useful information that will assist in the arrest of the perpetrators.

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Alhaji Lawal Yakubu, was kidnapped on Monday.

An eye witness, Mr Joseph Audu, a resident of Nasarawa Eggon, told Radio Nigeria in a phone interview that gunmen followed the commissioner to his house and abducted him around 9.00 p.m.
