Parents have been urged to desist from pressurising their children on redeployment from their service state in the NYSC scheme so as not to change their destiny 

The new Director General of the NYSC Brigadier-General Dogara Ahmed made the call while addressing 2023 Batch A stream one corps members at NYSC permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin, Oyo state.

Brigadier General Ahmed who explained that the posting of corps members were aimed at meeting the nation’s needs of attaining full integration and national development, advised the corps members not to allow anyone to speak ill or add colouration to their posting.

The new NYSC DG noted that many graduate corps had been deceived and swayed from places where they were predestined to succeed all in the guise of redeployment due to personal reasons.

Brigadier General Ahmed pointed out that serving in a new place other than their states of origin would expose them to better opportunities and new experiences.

” I enjoined the parents to allow these children to be themselves because most times if you go to these corps members and asked them, they tell you my parents want me to redeploy I have uncountable cases, when you ask them they’ll tell you my parents said, when are you going to allow these corps members to grow.”

“My parents never asked me to redeploy, I never wanted to redeploy. I served in Osun state and I have no regret at all serving in Osun state and I learnt so many things. My service year has exposed me to the way how things are done better and it has equipped me on how to carry out my life ” Brigadier General Ahmed said

On the engagement of corps members as ad-hoc staff in the 2023 general elections, Brigadier General Ahmed hinted that previous arrangements had been improved upon to ensure their safety and smooth running of the exercise.

“All hands are on deck to ensure that the security of corps members are guaranteed and INEC has already assured us that they’ll pick these corps members, police their camp and return them safely,” He said.

The NYSC Director-General also announced the donation of Two hundred pieces of plastic chairs, ten pieces of standing fans and two fat cows to boost the morale of the corps members.

Earlier, in his address, State Coordinator, NYSC Mr Odoba Abel Oche, said one thousand six hundred and sixty-six corps members comprising Five hundred and sixty-five males, and one thousand and forty-one females were registered for the three weeks orientation programme and attested that they were responding positively to camp activities.
