Ogun State Government says it will uphold merit in the appointment of public officers as part of efforts to rebrand and restructure the state

The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun stated at the swearing-in of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Olatokunbo Talabi, the Chief of staff, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu and official presentation of the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin held at governor’s office, oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

The Ogun helmsman maintained that ensuring the appointment of qualified and loyal individuals would boost the efforts to deliver dividends of democracy to the people and enhance the fulfillment of his campaign promises.

The governor, who described the new appointees as experienced individuals with good character, urged them to be dedicated and committed in discharging their duties

He said the appointment was a call to service and urged them to strengthen the vision of the present administration in transforming the state through public-private partnerships.

Responding on behalf of the newly sworn in appointees, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Talabi thanked the governor for the honour and promised that they would work with the governor in achieving the objectives of making the state one of the best in the country

Mr Talabi said the government would operate open door policy to encourage interface between the government and members of the public.

In an interview, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shuaibu Salisu gave the assurance that the system would collaborate with stakeholders in public and private sectors to ensure sustainable development across the state.

Alhaji Salisu also restated the present administration’s plan to give priority to programmes and policies that will promote good governance in the state.
