The Federal Government is to support states with a digital economic strategy that will generate employment opportunities in the country.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr. Isa Pantami stated this after a presentation to Nigeria Governors Forum in Abuja.

Dr. Isa Pantami solicited the support of governors to develop a friendly digital innovation that would generate jobs for the teeming unemployed people in the country.

The Minister maintained that the implementation of a national digital economic policy of the present administration launched in November last year, cannot be realized without the support of the governors.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi expressed the readiness of governors to collaborate with the ministry to harmonize all the Right of Way charges across states to achieve at least seventy percent national broadband penetration target before the end of 2020.

Speaking on present outbreak of Lassa fever in some parts of the country, the governors pledged to collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control to curtail the spread of the disease.

Similarly, the governors promised to collaborate with financial institutions to address housing deficits in the country and to meet relevant agencies on the modalities to implement housing programme.
