Lawmakers in the Ogun State House of Assembly have called for even and fair distribution of road projects across the 26 State Constituencies of the state to allow democratic dividend reach the nooks and crannies.

The lawmakers including the Deputy Minority Leader, Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, Deputy Speaker, Mr. Dare Kadiri, and OlaKunle Sobunkanla, among others, made the call while examining the 2021 budget proposals of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

They charged the ministry to step up measures towards ensuring the effective monitoring of contractors handling all roads to ensure compliance to quality control to ensure durability and value for money. 

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ade Adesanya, said out of the total budget size of 40.81billion naira, a sum of 36.3billion naira was set aside for road construction and the remaining 4billion naira for rehabilitation across the three senatorial districts.

Engineer Adesanya explained that plans had already been concluded for the immediate commencement of construction works on the Atan-Agbara industrial 19.2km road, Ilishan-Ago-Iwoye, Ofada-Owode, Ikangba-Lagos Garage, Sango-Akute roads amongst others.
